Each morning at Sparrow’s Oak begins in prayer — with the lighting of a candle, the chanting of a hymn, and the quiet rhythm of reflection.
Campers rotate through faith-centered sessions that balance creativity, movement, worship, and rest. Each day at Sparrow’s Oak is filled with faith, friendship, and creativity — where every activity connects hearts to Christ through play, worship, and wonder.
Children explore the sacred beauty of Orthodox worship through hands-on learning in the church. They discover the meaning of icons, candles, and vestments and learn how every symbol points to Christ. Guided by clergy and volunteers, campers also practice simple hymns and prayers, joining their voices in the timeless rhythm of Orthodox worship.
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” — Psalm 150:6
The spiritual heart of every day. Using The Adventure Bible and age-appropriate materials, campers learn about Jesus’s miracles, His Resurrection, and His call to love others. Lessons also cover the Feasts of Theophany and Dormition, the Lord’s Prayer, and John 3:16.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” — John 3:16
The happiest corner of camp! Campers serve and enjoy ice cream sundaes, build community, and share smiles with friends. It’s a joyful time to celebrate fellowship, friendship, and the sweetness of God’s love.
Campers create their own lemonade stands, learning stewardship, teamwork, and generosity. All proceeds support camper scholarships and parish outreach.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” — 1 Peter 4:10
Campers create life-size Biblical heroes out of cardboard, dress as saints and prophets, and perform puppet shows that bring Scripture to life!
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly… with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit.” — Colossians 3:16
Children transform tables and blankets into cozy, themed “under-table” forts filled with twinkle lights, pillows, and imagination — echoing Abraham’s faith under the stars.
“He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.’ Then He said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’” — Genesis 15:5
A red, white, and blue day filled with gratitude for both faith and freedom! Campers enjoy patriotic crafts, outdoor games, and lessons about unity, service, and thankfulness. We pray for our nation’s leaders and all who serve. We stand for the flag and kneel for the Cross.
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.” — Romans 13:1
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17
Throughout the summer, Sparrow’s Oak honors the great Feasts of the Orthodox Church — including the Transfiguration, Dormition, and Theophany — through prayer, art, and joyful fellowship.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24
A joyful finale to the camp season where campers share their God-given gifts through songs, dance, and skits, celebrating faith, confidence, and friendship.
